STRESS, ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
During pregnancy, the first year after childbirth and around other reproductive events many parents experience feelings such as:
If this sounds like you, you are not alone.
About 10-20% of mothers suffer from depression, anxiety or other distressing emotional reactions during pregnancy or after childbirth. This translates to about 800,000 mothers a year in the U.S. Many mothers struggle with similar symptoms after a miscarriage, a still birth, losing a baby, around their menstrual cycle, when dealing with infertility, or around menopause. Though hormonal changes are often not a factor, around the time of adopting a baby or older child, a parent can experience significant emotional distress. Fathers, non-gestational mothers and parents deal with such difficulties as well. Most gestational mothers and nearly all non-gestational parents do not receive proper support for these difficulties, or treatment for these conditions.
You should not be one of them!
