Children/Visitors

What about babies, children, family members, friends, visitors in the groups?

Babies in the Groups

Babies are welcome in the support group meetings. You may feed, breastfeed or change your baby in our groups. There is a separate room available for those who prefer a private setting for breastfeeding. Please do not leave wet or soiled diapers in the trash cans.

Toddlers/Older Children

Toddlers may be present only if the participating adult does not have any other child or baby to watch during the group, and if the toddler is not disruptive of the group process.

Children over the age of three are not allowed in the group unless cleared in advance with the group facilitators.

Fathers/ Partners

Spouses and partners of a group member are welcome at the support group meetings, unless other group members wish otherwise. It is not uncommon that participants share about deeply personal and painful experiences. Occasionally, group members prefer to have only mothers of babies in the group. Sometimes a woman may not feel comfortable with a male in the room. We check in with each participant at the beginning of each group meeting, and we provide an adjacent room for the guest to relax if any of these circumstances arise.

Family/Friends/Visitors

Please contact us to discuss about group attendance if you are a family member or a friend of a parent believed to suffer from pregnancy or postpartum related depression, anxiety or other conditions. Sometimes mothers like to bring their own mother, a close friend or another support person.

Anyone who is interested to learn more about Perinatal Mood, Anxiety and Other Conditions, or about this support group, is welcome to contact us.  We are also available for phone and email consultations, workshops and professional presentations.

Who May Not Attend

Any person under the influence of illicit drugs or alcohol may not attend our support groups.

We ask that anyone with an infectious disease, including the flu or a contagious cold, refrain from coming to the group. Please remember that babies may be highly vulnerable to contracting these conditions.
